Diploma in Ministry

The Premier Course offered by C-LET is a two-year diploma programme for persons who are interested in developing the skills to practice ministry in any church or community service organization. The Course offers a foundation in Biblical Studies, Theology, Pastoral Care and Counselling, Ethical Foundations, Leadership Development, Public Speaking and Preaching. A key experience for students in the Dip in Ministry Programme is the course in Integration which runs through each Semester.

A unique experience is offered to students to participate in the Course of Study Programme, (a programme of the United Methodist Church) at Candler School of Theology, Emory University, Atlanta, GA., and/or Wesley Theological Seminary, Washington, D.C.  Students can take up to four courses in the month of July at either Candler or Wesley Seminaries.
​

Students in the Dip in Ministry are encouraged to integrate theology with practice and work toward a holistic place where beliefs, scripture and ethics are congruent and visible not only in theory but in how students do ministry.
​

The course runs for four Semesters (usually 2 years). In the final semester, students are required to engage in a Ministry Placement which involves six weeks of practicum. The final requirement for the Dip in Ministry is the development of a personal belief statement by each student.
This Dip in Ministry is a required course for Diaconal Ministry in the Bahamas Conference of the Methodist Church.

Certificate Course in Church Leadership

The Certificate Course in Church Leadership is offered in a six weekend programme taking place over 6-12 months. This course is for any and everyone holding a position of leadership in their local church be that Treasurer, Secretary, Lay Preacher, Youth Leader or Congregational Leader.
​

The Course offers training in Biblical, Ethical and Theological Foundations, Worship and Liturgy, Christian Doctrine and Leadership Development. Also included are workshops in Pastoral Care, Hospital Visitation, the Holy Spirit, Funerals, Weddings, Communion, Clinic Sermons, Public Speaking and Conflict Resolution.

This is an introductory course in Leadership in many of the areas necessary for work as an effective leader in the local church.
​

Students may opt to move from this course into the Diploma in Ministry two-year Programme.
Each student is given the opportunity to specialize in one of three specialty areas:
   • Advanced Leadership
   • Preaching
   • Youth Ministry

Certificate Course in Community Coaching and Mentoring

​

The Certificate Course in Community Coaching and Mentoring is offered in a six weekend programme taking place over 6-12 months. This course is for any and everyone interested in young people especially young people in trouble with home, school, family and the courts. It is also an opportunity for students to grow personally and spiritually.
​

The programme offers courses and training in Conflict Transformation, Anger Management, Counselling Skills, Coaching Skills, Self Esteem Training and studies in Relationship Development.
​

Also offered in this course is training in The Seven Habits of Highly Successful Teens and The Laws of Life.
​

Certification in Community Development and Transformation

The Certificate Course in Community Development and Transformation is offered in a six weekend programme taking place over 6-12 months. This course is for any and everyone interested in working with community work, community organizations, youth development and personal growth and development.

The course is suitable for persons in small member communities (Family Island Settlements) The Certificate Course in Community Coaching and Mentoring is offered in a six weekend programme taking place over 6-12 months. This course is for any and everyone interested

NEW COURSES

Spiritual Development and Discernment

​

This is a course that will refresh your spirit and encourage your soul.  It will offer the opportunity for students to work on themselves and grow. Our society places emphasis on the outer parts of us, dress, cars, houses, etc. This course offers the opportunity for interior work. We will explore our feelings of emptiness and  restlessness and look at the framework of our lives with hope, purpose and joy.   This course will sharpen your experience in religion and also offer an opportunity to begin a deeper exploration in Spiritual direction and intuition. In the course we will explore the teachings of Henri Nouwen and Joyce Rupp, two well known writers in Spirituality. Students will be encouraged to discover the vast potential of their lives and enhance their spiritual development.

The course will run for three weekends, Thursday night, Friday night and Saturday morning.

Greif and Loss: A Programme of Recovery.

​

This course is designed for all those who have suffered loss of any kind. It will benefit people who have lost a loved one and also those who have experienced loss of any kind. The course dismisses the myth that ‘time cures all wounds’ and offers recovery for those who are paralyzed by the fear of loss.
​

Grief Recovery is different to Grief Counselling. Its core premise is that recovery is possible. It is not Grief Therapy either. Participants will do much of their own work in a group setting and because of this we require a high level of confidentiality from each student.
​

The course runs for 9 Monday nights. People who register for this course are expected to complete all 9 weeks.

​

Cost: $450:00
